LATE NIGHT DATE NIGHT @TRILOGYSPA

If you don't already know, my boyfriend (Raleigh Wilson) is my photographer and we collaborate on everything (from the art direction to the styling - even the caption and hashtags) to produce all of my content. I couldn't ask for a better or more supportive partner, but working together all the time doesn't necessarily translate into us spending that much needed "relationship time" with one another.

Luckily for us, Trilogy Spa in Manhattan Beach was kind enough to invite us over for a "Date Night" filled with massages, live music, and some sips & snacks. Now I don't know what I was expecting exactly, but I was completely blown away by how much I enjoyed myself.

I've always been cursed with a very busy mind - if there's something, anything, to worry about, I will overreact and worry to no end. When it comes to rest and relaxation? I don't know the meaning of those words. Growing up, my father always insisted that only a boring personality is bothered by boredom and being the little rebel that I was, I never wanted to be the type that bores easily. The problem with never growing bored however, is that I have no idea how to shut down.

After several weeks straight filled with work, meetings, events and shoots, all of that started to take its toll on me, and my relationship with my boyfriend started to feel like a long distance one the more I realized that we hadn't stepped out of the house for any reason other than work and groceries. Basically what I'm getting at? Our date night at Trilogy Spa was a life-saver.

We spent most of the night in a cabana on their rooftop deck, which was accompanied with twinkle lights (my favorite!) and a seriously talented musician to serenade the guests (not pictured - didn't want to kill his vibe). Along with some champagne a few snacks, it didn't take long for the two of us to unwind. My masseuse for the night was Sean and there is no other word to describe the experience other than "heaven." I had never had a spa massage before (and was a little nervous about having a male masseuse), but Sean was nothing but professional and incredibly informative when I shared my history of bad shoulder pains and migraines with him. Truthfully, the whole thing had me wondering why I didn't get massages more often.

Once our massages were finished, Raleigh and I enjoyed the cabana for another hour or so before we went exploring around the spa to find a dry sauna, waterfall shower, and private soaking tubs. All in all, the environment was very serene, picturesque, and the smell of essential oils filling the air made everything that much more pleasant. Considering how well I slept through the night once we made it back home, I'll definitely be back the first chance I get.
