BEETLEJUICE, BEETLEJUICE, BEETLEJUICE

Can you believe it? The first day of fall was just last week, and in a few days it’ll be October. And you know what that means don’t you? HALLOWEEN.

To say that I’m excited for the upcoming month would be an understatement. I’m usually a summer baby through and through, but for some reason, the fall feels are strong this year. While I used to be the one person who tried to hold on to going to the beach until well into November, I can’t help but feel excited for sweaters, knee high socks, and dare I say it - shoes.

Funny - as I’m writing this, I’m currently melting in my office with this Southern California weather, but just yesterday I embraced the light breeze that was coming though the alley near my apartment & put together a look I thought was appropriate for when you’re feeling spooky (but stylish).

I don’t think there’s anything more Halloween-y than velvet (especially black velvet), so that was the first thing I grabbed. The slip dress has been having a long moment in the “fashion world” it seems, and while I wasn’t a fan at first, I honestly couldn’t deny HOW FREAKING COMFORTABLE THIS SUCKER IS. Enter the black velvet slightly gothic vibe, and it really has dark, moody & "Audrie” written all over it. Dresses are my go-to (death to pants), so it really shouldn’t have come as a shock to me that this mini from Luna B was a godsend in my closet.

Since slip dresses tend to come off as sexy (sometimes too sexy), I wanted to go a different route and decided to wear a turtleneck underneath. It’s fun, quirky, and bit more on the side of autumn than the standard t-shirt I usually see this look paired with.

And just because I couldn’t resist channeling Beetlejuice (or the Hamburglar - whichever way you want to see it), I had to go with black and white stripes.

Since I’ve been relying on barefoot sandals & regular sandals to get me through the spring and summer, I felt a bit of nostalgia when I saw my lonely little white pair of high top Converse in the back of my wardrobe. It matched, so why not? This look was entirely too fun not to prance around in (and I’m pretty sure my neighbors thought I was insane since I live right on Belmont Shore Beach), but I hope this look inspired you to gather your Halloween vibes and get to decorating once October hits. I know I will.

 xx Audrie
