Another hair tutorial for you all! If you follow me on Instagram @AudrieStorme, you know that I love a good bohemian halo braid. Since halo braids are my favorite, I thought I’d share the three different ways I like to halo braid for that beachy, bohemian vibe. I do have shorter hair, so these techniques may not work for you babes with super long hair, but I think these braids are actually easier to do with long hair (I’m guessing). While I braid my hair on a daily basis, I think these braids are perfect for all special occasions like weddings, romantic dates, and/or birthday parties.

ONE - Crossover Crown Braid

  1. Start with second day, detangled hair.

  2. Part in the middle and secure one section off to the side.

  3. Starting at the front of the other side, start a dutch braid (basically a french braid, but instead of crossing over, cross under).

  4. Keep adding hair to your dutch braid and secure with an elastic.

  5. Repeat on the other side. You should end up with two pigtail dutch braids.

  6. Cross one dutch braid along the bottom of your head and tuck in the end into the middle of the opposite dutch braid. Pin to secure.

  7. Repeat on the other side.

TWO - Half-Up Halo Braid

  1. Start with second day, detangled hair.

  2. Section your hair into two - one top and and one bottom section.

  3. Secure the bottom half for later, and start working with the top half.

  4. Detangle the top half again if you have to (it makes it easier)!

  5. Pull hair to the front (covering your face, and start a dutch braid from the back, braiding to and along the front.

  6. Keep braiding all the way around your head and secure with an elastic.

  7. Wrap the dutch braid around the crown of your head and tuck/pin the end underneath the beginning of your halo braid.

  8. Let down the secured bottom half and start loosening the crown braid.

  9. Curl the bottom half if you want!

THREE - Traditional Halo/Crown Braid

  1. Start with second day, detangled hair.

  2. Starting from the back middle section of your head, begin a dutch braid.

  3. Braid along your hairline to the front and all the way around.

  4. Secure the end with an elastic.

  5. Wrap the braid around the crown of your head and tuck/pin the end underneath the beginning of your halo braid.

  6. Pin any pieces that might be sticking out or loose. If you have layers like I do, you’re going to want to pin the shit out of it.

  7. Loosen the crown braid a little for more volume.

And that’s all! Hope you enjoy these tutorials on how to halo braid and/or how to crown braid!
